A Happy Old Year it was, a Happy New Year to all!

We cut vasilopita (a kind of cake) to find the hidden coin the moment the New Year comes, at midnight. The one who finds the coin will have a lucky new year. This was my mum's  last year's pie .

As the old year counts hours, I can't help but reflecting back to it. The last years have been quite challenging for me, yet through these difficulties I feel I have innevitably grown. 2012 proved a rewarding year with wonderful experiences  that only came after the past years' great effort on my part. It will be a year that I'll always remember, as an example that only movement (metaphorically or not) brings change.
As I wave goodbye, I only hope that it will be a better year for the people in Greece who have been in desperate need during the last three years: the homeless, the people who lost their jobs overnight, the sick people who can't afford a doctor anymore, due to this 'thing'  it's been called economic crisis.
This morning the streets are filled with kids who knock on our doors to sing the carols holding their triangles. I hold on to this beautiful sound.

And to all of you, I wish that 2013 will be full of wonderful surprises, health and happiness!
