One of my great delights in summer is going to the cinema. Although there are no cinemas in winter here, there are two (!) open air cinemas in summer. I have to choose: the one on the rooftop with the smell of souvlakia from the nearby tavern or the one with the garden with the smell of garlic bread from the nearby italian restaurant?
Apart from the nice smells, which rather define where I'll go for a grab after the film, there is an even greater bonus in both cinemas: I can watch the films under the stars, with the summer breeze blowing and If I get really lucky there'll be no mosquitos!
Today it was my first.Hopefully it won't be the last!
Any open air cinemas where you live?
Wow, I haven't been to a drive in theatre in decades! I am not even certain if there are still any around, but if there are, I don't know about them. I don't have a car. As far as "open air" cinemas go, this is a first for me.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda! Thanks for commenting! There are lots of open air cinemas in Greece. On the contrary, there are no drive ins.In the case you visit Greece one day, I strongly suggest a night out! It's a wonderful experience!
DeleteWhat a nice way to spend the evening. I remember going to a open air theatre in crete years ago. But I had forgotten until you mentioned it:)
ReplyDeleteThen you know!
DeleteI have always want to do that, sitting in the warm evening watching a movie.
ReplyDeleteΙt's super!
DeleteI've been to open air theatre but not cinema. Our weather here is too unpredictable for it to be a regular thing. I think I'd struggle to stay to the end of the film with gorgeous smells like that wafting over me though! x
