The last

Now I know. Exactly a week ago, last Sunday that is, I had my last swim for the summer. And I really didn't enjoyed it that much, since the water was cool and it was windy again.
Last day at the beach

Since then it seems like we're moving quickly towars autumn. A few days ago I wore shorts, now I'm wearing long sleeves and socks! And it's really strange, as it's been too many years that we had had warm weather almost up until November. It was quite unnatural, but we had got used to it, especially me, who loves the sun and light clothes!  This year the transition of seasons is more natural, yet, I'm not at all prepared for it. This year I don't long for winter at all. I'm really scared of it actually and the depression it'll probably bring...My best self comes out in summer, where days are long and warm. I exercise effortlessly (swimming, cycling, walking), I go out a lot, I 'm full of energy, optimism and creativity. In winter I hybernate.
Just a while ago, I put all my colourful, bright, exciting summer clothes away and took out my gloomy, dark winter clothes out. I thought that it's the worst start for my Sunday.

Who wouldn't prefer these...
...to these?
No, actually the worst start is these clouds outside.
People say that this winter will be the worst of the last years in terms of cold and rain- awful. I guess I simply must face it and find ways to appreciate it. First step? To bring some colour into my wardrobe.Next? Don't know... Any tricks to suggest?
Are you a winter or summer person?

My kind of weather, for sure.

  2. I try to appreciate something from all the seasons. Spring is my time of year with the new beginnings, a cool temperature and a blue sky. I also like the autumn with the changing colours of nature. I am not fond of summers in the UK as they tend to be humid with oppressive skies (in my opinion)! Try not to get down with the approach of winter and get out and about as much as you can. Add some colourful accessories to your winter wardrobe such as a colourful scarf or piece of jewellery. If you do get down then blog about it so that we can cheer you up! x

  3. Can I be an autumn person? I love autumn but the grey, wet, miserable days of winter get me down (but I hate it when it's too hot in summer? ) contrary Mary?
I think wearing some colour in winter sounds like a good way to combat the winter blues....buy yourself some bright colourful cut flowers every now and again too, to make you smile. Xxx

  4. I am a fall person. I love the colors, the nip in the air, getting to wear cozy clothes and enjoy hot drinks and fires in the woodstove. Winter can get long and dreary here, but it is our green season as well, so that is a treat for the eyes. I don't like being hot and sweaty, and now that I have hot flashes, I hate hot weather even more.

  5. I love all kinds of weather and at the moment we are having some lovely spring weather. In the winter add some gorgeous colourful scarves to brighten your mood. Works for me.

  6. I like all the seasons but as I get older the cold gets to me now and I am finding it difficult to get up on the dark mornings - I am going to invest in one of those special 'Sunrise' lamps this year to see if this improves my mornings. I think getting outside everyday is a must and my consultant prescribes Vitamin D for me as he says no-one living in Yorkshire England gets enough of this Vitamin which affects mood amongst other things.
That sea certainly looks inviting even at this time of year.

  7. I really understand what you are talking about here. I am truly a warm (but not hot!) weather person. You describe it perfectly – feeling optimistic, wearing light clothes, bright colors and no worries about heating or frost or shivering. I love the long days and lingering light, early mornings listening to birdsong. I wish I had some good advice – all I do is hunker down and do a lot of photo editing and planning for the coming spring travels and photos shoots. That keeps me going!

I hope your autumn/winter is not as harsh as is being predicted. Maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised!
