On cloud nine

Last weekend I indulged myself a bit. I went to Athens for a ballet night at Megaron (one of the places I highly recommend in Athens) with my best friend D. We were lucky to find tickets in time, as both performances were sold out. We watched Prokofiev's 'Romeo & Juliet'. It was wonderful! The orchestra, the dancers, the music, the costumes, everything!

The choreography was really clever, as the choreographer had incorporated elements from Greek traditional dances! The best thing of all, was that we had a girls' night out! We enjoyed it to the full! We strolled around the marvelllous halls in Megaron, chatted and laughed a lot!

D is planning her next visit to Megaron!

When  I got back home, I immediately searched for photos. I was lucky to see that the National Opera had published many of them and it was nice to take a closer look to the dancers and be able to share them with you! I hope you like them!

Do you like going to the ballet? To the opera? What's your favourite night out? Any interesting concert you've been to recently?

Although totally irrelevant to the ballet night posting, let me remind you of the food event I'm hosting until the 25th April called BAKE & TASTE GREEK

I hope you're already reading the recipes, looking for the ingredients and keeping your stoves warm for some Greek baking to take place!!!!! To see the first entry from Simone from Linden Grove, click here.

  1. What a wonderful clean looking place that is. I used to go to the ballet quite often with a friend but we've moved to different areas and it's not so easy to meet up as we used to and sadly nobody else is really interested in going with me. Sounds like you had a wonderful time. Suzy x

    1. Ballet/classical music concerts are hard in terms of finding company. I have the same problem myself.I live in 2 hours distance from Athens, where all the good things happen, and my friends. This time was a lucky one, since I could go to Athens and my friend was able to arrange baby sitting!Things are always tough, but I/we try!

  2. It looks most wonderful! I have never been to the ballet or the opera as I have no-one to go with! I am not keen on opera but I would love to see a ballet. I have not really had a night out for years and I think the last concert I saw many years ago was Michael Jackson at Wembley Stadium!!!

ps. I'm not keen on opera either, but once in a while, I like seeing something out of the ordinary!

  3. I've only been to one ballet, Don Quixote, many years ago though we sometimes watch it on TV. I prefer going to the theatre and we probably go every couple of months - we're lucky though and have several theatres within half an hour. We're going to see the Tennessee Williams play 'The glass menagerie' on Saturday. I'm off next week and will be making the Galatopita - wish me luck! x

  5. It looks like a wonderful evening out and a great production. We go to the Opera a few times a year but it has been a while since I have been to a ballet. Lovely pictures.
    Have a good weekend!
